The Hungarian Helsinki Committee is a civil rights protection organization, a non-profit association that protects human dignity through the means of law and publicity. We provide assistance to refugees, detainees and victims of official violence.
The Hungarian Helsinki Committee helps those whose human rights are violated by the state. Our clients: refugees, detainees, discriminated people, people and those who have been disadvantaged because they stood up for themselves or their peers.
We were founded in 1989. We have been dealing with professional legal protection since 1994. At the time of the foundation, there were only a few people in the organization, and now more than thirty of us work. In the beginning, we primarily dealt with free legal advice and representation, today we are engaged in legal protection activities covering several areas, which include research and professional training.
